Obituary of Richard Edward Laughon

Richard Edward Laughon, 93 of  Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on Monday, July 16, 1928  in Bedford County, a son of the late Alvin Laughon and Rosa Pearl Overstreet Laughon.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Ann Johnson Laughon, a son, Michael Vincent Laughon, his daughter, Carol Ann Brandt and special friend, Brenda Koop.

He was retired from the Rubatex Corporation, was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church and the V. F. W and a veteran of the U. S. Army.  

He is survived by his sons, Richard Alan Laughon & wife, Angie, John Laughon; daughter-in-law, Debbie Laughon; grandchildren, Carolann Moorman, Sarah Fenninger, Jacob Laughon, Olivia Haynes; his great-grandchildren, Evan Laughon, Delaney Moorman, Ty Moorman, Penelope Fenninger and nephews, Wayne Laughon, Wade Laughon, Russell Morgan.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 11 AM on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a memorial service will follow at 1 PM in the chapel with Pastor Russ Alden officiating.  

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
