Obituary of Frank Nelson Witt

Moneta native Frank Nelson “Doc” Witt was born October 24, 1934, and died Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the age of 87. He resided in Bedford County with his wife, Norma Fay Arthur Witt, who preceded him in death in 2016. Doc, as most people knew him, retired from Rubatex and was an avid baseball player growing up. Doc and Fay were the biggest fans of Jimmy’s Automotive Softball team and didn’t miss a single baseball game of their son, Marty Nelson Witt. You could see them both in the stands and coaching from the sidelines. Another great joy to them both was being grandparents to Marty and wife, Misty Dunford Witt’s only child, Cassie Alexis Witt who all survive them in death.

The family would like to thank the CNA’s, nursing staff, providers, and Hospice service at Oakwood Manor. They made Doc’s last days with us peaceful and provided outstanding care. Marty and Misty would also like to thank the family on Arthur Road for your daily outpouring of food, love, and chores. Family, church, and community are everything!

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford with visitation beginning at 10:30am on Tuesday August 2, 2022 and a funeral service to follow at 11:30am at Updike Funeral Chapel with Pastor Phil Kelley presiding. Graveside will immediately follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
