Obituary of Purnell Todd Messick

Purnell Todd Messick, 92 of  Bedford, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on Saturday, February 1, 1930 in Cambridge, MD, a son of the late Raymond Lee Messick and Elsie Todd Messick.  He was also preceded in death by wife, Eleanor Johnson Messick, son, Darrell Messick, brother, Eldon Messick, sister, Sandra Harper.

He was a retired cabinet & furniture maker and was a member of  Ephesus United Methodist Church.  He was also a U. S. Navy veteran.  

He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark McDonough & wife, Judy; step-daughter, Pat  Moore & husband, Bob;  his grandchildren, Christian McDonough, Joseph McDonough, Clair Monaghan & husband, Sean Murphy; his great grandchildren, Fiona Murphy, Owen Murphy; sister, Donna Lane & husband, Milton, Gene Mackert & husband, Bob; step-granddaughter, Kim Alderman & husband, Scott, step-great grandchildren, Brett Alderman, Taylor Alderman.  

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Ephesus United Methodist Church, c/o Cindy Woolridge, Treasurer, 1673 Brighton Road, Lynch Station 24571.  

Mr. Messick will be transported to Georgetown, Delaware where funeral services will be held and interment will take places at Union Cemetery, Georgetown, DE.
