Obituary of Jackie Byrd Tuck

Jackie Byrd Tuck, age 86 of Moneta passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 with his two sons at his side. He was born in Bedford County, VA on November 26th, 1936, one of many children born to Early Lay & Hatti Heinz Tuck. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, many siblings, and his son, Timothy Byrd Tuck. 

Jackie served time in the U. S. Army as a Linemen. After being discharged from the Army, he worked for multiple companies as a Linemen and was referred to as “Snake” by all co-workers. He then retired from Dominion Power in 1994. Jackie was a member of Radford Baptist Church for many years. Jackie loved the Lord, his family, his country, and his friends. If you were friends with Jackie you were also family to him.  Jackie then led his wife, Ruth of 62 years to the Lord.   

Jackie is survived by wife, Ruth Arlene Ayers Tuck; brother, Early Lay Tuck “Junior”; sons, Tracy Lay & wife, Michelle of Moneta; Troy Dewayne of Moneta; Colt Michael of Moneta; daughter-in-law Lisa Tuck of Moneta. He was a loving “Papa” to Tyler & wife, Berkeley, Tray, Bradley & wife, Samantha, Taylor, Jaelyn , Makena, Taleah, AJ, and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends beginning on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 10 AM at Radford Baptist Church and a memorial service will be held at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Pastor Karl Hofheinz officiating.
