Obituary of Lendy Kentwood Mitchen
Lendy Kentwood Mitchen, 87 of Lynch Station, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on Thursday, December 26, 1935 in Bedford County, a son of the late Fred Lathan Mitchen and Celestia "Essie" Howell Mitchen. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia A. Mitchen, his sisters, Norene Mitchell, Genevie Dellis, Barbara Crouch and his brothers, Curtis Mitchen and Lloyd Mitchen.
He retired from BGF Industries after 41 years as a Greige Goods Supervisor. Following retirement, he enjoyed spending time on his farm. He was a faithful member of Huddleston United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dawson Mitchen; his daughters, Melissa M. Wilmer (Jay), Kelly Shelton (Derek); his step-son, Buddy Daniels; sisters, Collie Lee Johnson, Carolyn Goin; a brother, Willis Mitchen (Nancy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Parker (Travis), Macy Shelton, Zachary Hodge (Kristen), Dylan Brooks as well as four Great Grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Kent's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Huddleston United Methdist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
