Obituary of Virginia Wilson Abbott

Virginia Wilson Abbott, 93 of Bedford, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center.  She was born on Wednesday, September 4, 1929 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late George Edward Wilson and Flora Virginia Trent Wilson. She was also preceded in death by husband, John Allen Abbott, her son, James Allen Abbott, her brother, Hubert Allen Wilson and her sisters, Mary Louise Wilson, Bessie O'Neil Wilson Hurt, Joyce Ann Wilson Craig. 

She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Tolley; her grandchildren, Neil Abbott & wife, Debra, Erica Abbott Whorley & husband, Jonathan, Missy Abbott Welch & husband, Tyler, Benjamin Jenkins; ten great grandchildren, one bonus great granddaughter, one bonus great great granddaughter, numerous nieces & nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Rev. Kam McLain officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 PM on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
