Obituary of Wallace Davis Mitchell

Wallace Davis Mitchell, 91, of Vinton, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Spring Oak at Bedford – The Elks Home.  He was born in Bedford County on May 18, 1931, the son of the late Corbett Lawrence Mitchell & Eva Franklin Mitchell.  He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ada Mae Wilkerson Mitchell; brother, Clyde Mitchell & sister, Ethel Bolling.

Wallace drove a milk truck for 25 years then retired from VDOT as a truck driver.

He is survived by his sons, Micah D. Mitchell (Donna) & Glenn D. Mitchell; grandson, Jeremy Mitchell (Kayla); granddaughter, Whitney Brown (Brad); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bryson & Ainsley; numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
