Obituary of Alan Brandau Mansfield, Sr.

Alan Brandau Mansfield, Sr., 86 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born January 23, 1937, a son of the late John George Mansfield and Ruth Brandau Mansfield. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Cecelia Mansfield Lilliston and Geraldine Mansfield Weeks. 

He was owner/operator of the Sealtest Dairy Distributor for ten years, was the warehouse supervisor at Bunker Hill Foods for sixteen years and was with Estes Trucking for five years. He was a longtime member of Bedford Baptist Church and the Liberty Sunday School Class. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Julia “Judy” Johnson Mansfield; his son, Alan B. Mansfield, Jr. (Nicole); his grandchildren, Ava Nicole Mansfield (Sam), Eric David Mansfield (Ana) and Keller Mason Williams as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 am on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Bedford Baptist Church and a funeral service will follow at 12 noon. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.  Interment, with military honors, will be in Oakwood/Greenwood Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
