Obituary of Warren Woodford

Warren Edward Woodford, 81 of Moneta, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Monday, November 25, 1929 in Bedford County, a son of the late Samuel W. and Lula Hubbard Woodford . He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Wilkinson Woodford, Brothers, L. Grant Woodford and Curtis Ray Woodford, D.D.S. and a sister-in-law, Beverly Woodford. He was the parts manager at Powers Tractor & Equipment for many years,a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Moneta Fire Department. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, Betty Bussey Woodford, daughters, Teresa W. Hatcher & her husband John of Bedford, Marcia W. Hughes & her husband David of Virginia Beach, Julie W. Manico & her husband Matt of Roanoke, Grandchildren, Stacey Kimber & her husband Brandon, Jeremy Hatcher & Lacy McClure, Brad Hughes, Kate Manico, and Samantha Manico, a Brother, Calvin P. Woodford & his wife Macklyn of Moneta, a Sister-in-Law, Virginia Woodford of Charlottesville and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider The Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 11525, Roanoke, VA 24022-1525. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Lord officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
