Obituary of Phillip Michael Tapia

Phillip Michael Tapia, 62 of Bedford, VA passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at  the Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham, NC.  He was born on Wednesday, June 8, 1960 in Paulding, OH.  

He was an electronics technician at Avery Dennison and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.  

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Inge Tapia; his sons, Cory Tapia & wife, Erin, Dustin Tapia & wife, Jennifer; his daughters, Mikala Tapia,Samantha Tapia; his bonus daughter, Katie Gonzales; his grandchildren, Rylan, Mila, Jax & Remi; his sisters, Rose Mary Carlisle, Stella Bernal, Diana Woods, Mary Hamrick, Dora Lee; his brothers, Jesse Rios, Danny Rios, Ricky Rios, Juan Martinez and well as many nieces & nephews.  

The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2023 ay Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the chapel with Chaplain Catina Martin officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
