Paul William "Billy" Cofer, 56 of Bedford, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on Friday, April 8, 1955 in Vallejo, CA, a son of the late Paul E. Cofer and Dorothy Young Cofer. Billy loved to hunt, fish, golf and especially the beach trips with special people. Surviving are his wife, Tonja Denise Short Cofer, a son, Zachary William Cofer and soon to be daughter-in-law Kellie Beamer of Bedford, a daughter, Georgia Hensley and soon to be granddaughter Zaida Alexus Cofer of Bedford, his mother-in-law, Carol P. Short of Salem, 4 sisters, Linda Pauley of MD, Dorothy Luby of MD, Nancy Cofer of Roanoke, and Kathy Manning & husband Perry of Roanoke, 2 Brothers, his twin Robert "Bobby" Cofer & wife Pam of Roanoke and David Robertson of Glade Hill, a sister-in-law, Abbie Trail & husband George of Roanoke, a brother-in-law, Russell Short of Salem, 3 special nieces, Chelsea, Macenzie and Terri, special friends, Missy & David Carroll, Frank Overfelt and Sam Ashworth. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 26 at 10:00 A.M. at the Updike Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
