Sylvia Johnson Cox, 87 of Moneta, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Carriage Hill Retirement Home. She was born on Tuesday, February 4, 1936 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Oma B. Johnson and Bertha Dellis Johnson.

She was retired from Dr. Jesse M. Tucker Medical Practice and Dr. E. Y. Lovelace, DDS. She was a member of Morgan's Baptist Church, where she was very active with the childrens' nursery.

She is survived by her husband, M. J. Cox; her brothers, Wayne Johnson & wife, Peggy, Travis Johnson & wife, Louise; her sisters, Vernelle J. Tuck, Nadine J. Hodges; her sisters-in-law, Sharon C. McLaughlin (Jerry), Hertha C. Nichols, Diane Johnson; her brother-in-law, Wendell Cox (Margie) as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
