Obituary of Jean Stern Baum

Jean Stern Baum, 97 of Huddleston, VA passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 in Carriage Hill Heath & Rehab. Center.  She was born February 18, 1926 in Glencoe, IL, a daughter of the late Emil Stern and Blanch Jetziner Stern.

She was a retired chemist and school teacher.  Jean loved the Tennessee Walking Horse and was involved locally in Wisconsin for decades as well as nationally in the Walking Horse community.  She served on the Walking Horse Owners Association board, was a correspondent for the Walking Horse Report and was an inspiration for people of all ages.  Her enthusiasm and positivity was contagious, as she continued to show her horse nationally until the age of 91.  She was induced into the Walking Horse Hall of Fame in 2008 as well as being the recipient of a special presentation in 2016 at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration riding her horse Walk on Command. 

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Karen H Baum; two sons, Dr. James Leo Baum, Jeffrey David Baum a well as three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Wandering Acres Farm with John Gilmore officiating.  There is no visitation.
