Adell Virginia Overstreet Karnes, 84 of Vinton, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on Monday, November 15, 1926 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Wesley Howard Overstreet and Addie Jane Updike Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Karnes, a brother, Melvin H. Overstreet and two sisters, Frances O. Martin and Lois O. Vandergrift. She was a retired employee of Tultex and was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church. Surviving is her sister, Nelia Crowder of Lynchburg as well as numerous neices and nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Waverly Place Baptist Church, 1407 Kenwood Blvd, SE, Roanoke, VA 24013. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Suck Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday after 2 PM and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
