Jessie Jamison Chitwood, 94 of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Wednesday, December 4, 1929 in Franklin County, a son of the late Alfred DeWitt Chitwood and Lalar Hicks Chitwood. He was preceded in death by wife, Reva Margarite Jenkins Chitwood and his brother, Herbert Chitwood.

He was retired from the U. S. Navy with 21 years of service and also from Appalachian Power having worked in the Hydro plant. He was a member of Bedford Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Graves & husband, Gene; his grandchildren, Lindsay Graves, Michael Graves; his sister, Judy Hodges as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service, with military honors by the U. S. Navy will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Franklin Memorial Park with Dr. David Henderson officiating. There is no visitation.
