Lynda Pierson Martin, 73, of Bedford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her residence. She was born on Saturday, April 1, 1950, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Reed Jr. and Glenna Lafon Reed who survives. She was also preceded by her husband, John Jefferson Martin; son, Robert (Bobby) Miller Jr.; great-granddaughter, Sophia Long.

Lynda spent her nursing career providing excellent care for those at work and within the community. Lynda was a faithful volunteer with the VFW, her passion for the VFW was due to her father’s military service. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.  In her free time, Lynda enjoyed shopping, playing the local slots (at times, too much), and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her Boxer, Destiny. Lynda had a unique sense of humor that most grew to love.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Mary Katherine Swedberg and Stephanie Miller Moir (Barry) both of Bedford; brothers, Charles B. Reed III (Peggy), Jerry A. Reed; 1 nephew, 5 grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Jones (Robert), Amber Leigh Dudding, Holli Moir Stewart (Joshua), Heidi Elizabeth Moir, David Matthew Dudding; 14 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Berkshire Health and Rehab, Nayer Hospice and her personal caregivers, Alice Ridgeway and Cheryl Stevens.
