James Earl "Spike" Foster, III Obituary

James Earl “Spike’ Foster III passed away January 12, 2024. Born in Bedford, Virginia on December 13,

1975. Spike grew up in Casa Grande, Arizona graduating from Toltec in Arizona City. He returned to

Virginia in early adulthood. Spike was a jack of all trades, from electrician to furniture maker to metal

fabrication. Spike was a firearm enthusiast, once killing a firebird. Everyone who knew him loved Spike

and Spike loved them as well.


Spike was predeceased by his grandma Marvis Foster and her husband B.G., and his father and his best

friend James Earl Foster, Jr.


Spike is survived by his daughter, Odessa Foster and her mother Karen Foster; his mother Katherine B.

Updike & step-father Ronnie Updike; grandmother, Lucienne Bowden; sister, Heather Garrett (Carter);

brothers, Erik M. Foster, Lucas G. Foster (Angela), Ryan W. Isom; nieces, Foster B. Garrett, Luciennne C.

Garrett, Daphne N. Isom and nephew Greyson P. Foster.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Updike Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.
