Mable Overstreet Hawkins, 93 of Lynch Station, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at Medical Care Center. She was born on Wednesday, October 31, 1917 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late Herbert Colon Overstreet and Bessie Updike Overstreet . She was also preceded in death by her husband, Junious William Hawkins, a son, Travis W. Hawkins; two grandchildren, Wendy Hawkins and Kevin Hawkins; four brothers Raymond Bernard Overstreet, Rudolph Guy Overstreet, Cecil C. Overstreet and Melvin Ray Overstreet and two sisters, Lucille O. Robertson, Gladys O. Laing. She was a member of Mentow Baptist Church. Surviving is her daughter, Linda H. Styne of Lynch Station; two sons, Eugene C. Hawkins & wife, Brenda of Bedford, Richard C. Hawkins & friend, Angie Drumheller of Evington; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Hawkins of Huddleston; a sister, Isabelle (Isy) W. Overstreet of Bedford, six grandchildren, Regina Dawn Hawkins, Tamara Ranae Thompson, Erica Justice, Diana S. Alvis, Robert T. Howell, Brian Hawkins, as well as eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wayne Murphy and Rev. Greg Soult officiating. Friends may call Wednesday after 1 PM and the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
