Obituary of David Junior Newman, Sr.

David Junior Newman, Sr. 73 of  Bedford,  was awarded his angel wings on April, 2, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Newman and Naomi Newman Ashwell & his half-brother, Barry Newman.

David was retired from Rubatex Corporation and Newman's Cabinets and was a U S Army Veteran.  He was described by his family as a simple man who loved hunting and  fishing, a good hamburger and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Newman;  sons, David Newman, Jr. (Melissa Tomlin) and James Newman (Keri); grandchildren, Cody Newman, Caylin Tinsley (Nathaniel), Taylor Newman (Logan Tinsley), Karlee Newman, Abigail Tomlin, Mazie Tomlin, Braxton Newman and Skylar Newman;  his siblings, Helen Chambers (Jewel), Albert Ashwell (Jessica), Lewis Ashwell (Laura), Martha Ashwell, Patty Lloyd, Jerry Hailey and numerous nieces, nephews and special family friends.

A visitation will be held  on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.   A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
