Obituary of Claudius Ray Tuck
Claudius Ray Tuck, 78, of Huddleston, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 27, 1946, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Olan and Berdie Tuck. Claudius, better known as “Pop” “Poppy” or “Papa”, is survived by his wife, Sandra Ferguson Tuck; daughter, Tonya Tuck; sons, Kennon (Alicia) Tuck, & Brandon (Cheryl) Tuck; grandchildren, Whitney (Devin) Banker, Heather (Zac) Blankenship, Austin, Katlyn (Caleb), & Noah Tuck; great-grandchildren, Emmie, Eli, Millie Banker, Alina Tuck, & Daisy Blankenship; brothers, Danny (Gloria “Ginx”) Tuck, Herman “Hop” Tuck, Barry (Betty) Tuck, Ricky (Susan) Tuck; sisters, Wanda (Douglas) Dellis, Gloria (George) Cooper, & Cheryl “Cookie” (David) Stevens; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Claudius, also known as “Popeye,” by his coworkers, was an electrical lineman for 43 years and retired from Davis H. Elliot. He was regarded for his impressive work ethic as well as his mischievous pranks. Having been married for fifty-five years, Claudius was a devout husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is fondly remembered by his family as a “teacher” and “hero” while still finding time to instigate the grandkids from time to time. His interest in muscle cars and drag racing resulted in a lead foot that is remembered today. Most importantly Claudius was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of the Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy. His dedication to the Lord has moved and inspired countless individuals throughout his life.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 7th from 5pm to 8pm at Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy, 1022 Winona Lane, Lynch Station. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8th at 1pm at the church followed by a graveside at the Tuck Family Cemetery to honor his great legacy. Pastors Wayne Murphy and Roy Burton will be officiating along with words from the family.
