Obituary of Hilda Creasy Ashwell

Hilda Creasy Ashwell, 96 of Lynch Station passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Gretna Health & Rehab.  She was born October 5, 1927 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Hubbard Creasy and Glennie Wilson Creasy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ashwell and a daughter-in-law, Paula Ruff as well as one brother and five sisters. 

Hilda was retired from Piedmont Manufacturing, was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and tending to her flowers in her garden.

She is survived by her sons, Lewis Ruff, Melvin E. Ruff & wife, Diane, Michael L. Ashwell & wife, Annette as well as seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  

The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Campbell County Rescue Squad or Mt. Horeb Cemetery Fund.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston & a funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the chapel with Rev Riley Smith and Pastor Jane Whitehead officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will also receive friends Tuesday from 3 until 5 PM at Hilda's home.
