Donald Hersey Miller, 87 of Moneta, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born on Thursday, February 21, 1924 in Bedford County, a son of the late Daniel Hersey Miller and Bessie Lee Plymale Miller. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Scott Miller, two brothers, James G. Miller, Marvin J. Miller and two sisters, Elizabeth Tuck and Hilda DeLong. He was a retired employee of Hooker Furniture and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II. Surviving is his wife, Teeny Bell Bobbitt Miller; a daughter, Barbara Waters & husband, Paul of Callaway; a son, Dennis Miller & wife, Patricia of Moneta; a sister, Elaine Garber of Roanoke; nineteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Mark Flores officiating. Interment will follow in Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
