Katherine "Kathy" Bowden Updike, 73 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, March 1, 1951 a daughter of Lucienne Doom Bowden of Bedford, who survives and the late Gussie McFarland Bowden, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Earl "Spike"Foster III, four brothers, Roger "Bucky" Bowden, Jerry Lee Bowden, William Bowden, David Bowden.

Kathy was an avid animal lover.

In addition to her mother, she is he is survived by her husband, Ronnie Updike; her daughter, Heather Garrett (Carter); three granddaughters, Foster Garrett, Lucienne Garrett, Odessa Foster; sisters, Ingrid Elkins (Mickey), Brenda Padgett (Brent) and three beloved Bassett Hounds, Woodrow, Walter & Suzie Mae.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Quaker Baptist Church.
