Reva Frances Ashwell Bobbitt, 78 of Moneta, VA passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at her residence. She was born on Sunday, November 13, 1932 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Ollie Rucker ( Jack) Ashwell and Betty Scott Foster Ashwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Bobbitt and a sister & her husband, Doris & David Bobbitt. She was retired from the Singer Furniture Co. having worked there for 26 years and was a member Palestine Baptist Church . Surviving is her daughter, Twyla Bobbitt Martin of Moneta, Grandchildren; Jonathan Martin & wife, Jeanette, and Bryant Martin all of Moneta, Great-Grandchildren; Jay Martin, Julia Martin, Jonathan Martin, Jacob Martin, all of Moneta; brothers, Claude Ashwell & wife, Ruth of Dover, DE, John Ashwell & wife, Barbara of Hardy, Jim Ashwell & wife, Etta of Lynchburg; sisters, Sarah Bumpus & husband, Parker of Tullahoma, TN, Faye Wuergler & husband, Melvin of Moneta, Charlona Delong & husband, Danny of Moneta, Edna Seward of Tullahoma, TN. and many special nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Alzheimer's Assoc., P.O. Box 823, Lynchburg VA 24505 or the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Rd., Lynchburg VA 24501. The family wishes to express it's special thanks to the Americare Plus and Medi Hospice for the loving care provided to Reva. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 8, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at the Updike Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan's Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 PM and the family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
