Larry Hayden Whorley, 56 of Salem, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem. He was born on Friday, June 3, 1955 in Bedford County, VA, a son of the late David H. (Junior) Whorley and Maggie Irene Arthur Whorley . He was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church and a veteran having served in the U. S. Marine Corps. Surviving are his sisters, Marsha W. Gentry & husband, Charles of Archdale, NC, Rhonda Whorley Field & husband, Noel of Evington and several nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or the VA MC Volunteer Services for Building # 72. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Chaplain Quentin White officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
