Obituary of Hale Allison McCraw

Hale (Buddy) Allison McCraw, died on December 29, 2024, at Heritage Green in Lynchburg Virginia. Buddy was the son of the late Ernest Lyle McCraw and Bertha Lawhorne McCraw of Madison Heights.


Buddy was a retired State Farm Agent and cherished lifelong relationships with customers and colleagues. He was a faithful member of Bedford Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He also proudly served on the Bedford Free Clinic board. Slightly competitive, he loved a little wager on the golf course with his many golfing friends. He loved to talk, was exceedingly generous and never met a stranger.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 64 years Maxine Davidson McCraw; son Brent Allison McCraw (Laura); daughter Kimberly McCraw Errigo; grandchildren Brian (Rebecca), Elizabeth, and Caroline McCraw; Dylan, Connor, and Haley Errigo; and great-grandchildren Blair and Remi
McCraw. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Buddy was preceded in death by sisters Sandra McCraw Lewis and Gerry McCraw Harvey.

We are grateful for the benevolent care provided by staff at Heritage Green and Gentle Shepherd Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at Bedford Baptist Church on January 4, 2025; visitation at 10am, service at 11am followed by lunch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bedford Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
