Jim Thurston Dinkle, 78 of Moneta, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, July 9, 1933 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Clifford Baxter Dinkle and Nannie Davis Ashwell Dinkle. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 6 sisters. He was a long time Bedford County dairy farmer, and a member of Palestine Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Helen Crouch Dinkle, 2 sons , J.T. Dinkle & his wife Linda of Goode and Glenn Dinkle of Huddleston, 4 daughters, Helen Dellis & her husband Shirrell of Huddleston, Kathy Price & her husband Jerry of Bedford, Marcia Mason & her husband Lendale of Moneta and Elaine Nichols & her husband Walter of Bedford, a brother Ray Dinkle of Gastonia, NC, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Bedford Hospice, P.O. Box 688, Bedford, VA 24523 or the Palestine Bapt. Church Building Fund 9244 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA 24104 . Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Palestine Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Carver officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM and the family will receive friends Monday, September 26, 2011 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston, VA.
