Andrew L. Davis, of Bedford passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 92.  He was born and grew up around Gunstock Creek in the Sedalia area.  He was preceded in death by his father & mother, John William Davis and Dollie Anne Hensley Davis; his brothers, Willie, Warren, Howard, James, Russell, John (Clarence) and Bob; his sisters, Mary Gardner, Fannie Gardner and Annie Davis and a grandson, Jacob Davis.

Andrew served in the U. S. Army as Private 1st Class from 1953 - 55 during the Korean War.  After returning home, he married the "apple of his eye" Ella Carter.  The couple started a family and continued to reside in Sedalia.  He was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over sixty years.  Along with being a man of God, he was a hard-working, disciplined, respectful man who led by example.  He had a long career and retired from Rubatex Corporation.  He loved the mountains and everything they offered including hunting and fishing.  He was also an avid gardener.  While Andrew was a "by the book" individual, he would often have a joke or funny story to offer.  His sense of humor was cherished amongst family and friends.

Andrew is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Ella Davis; his children, Laura Poole (Charlie), Connie Morton (Jimmy) and Warren Davis (Gina); his brother, Sherman Davis; his grandchildren, Dollie Morton, Whitney Poole, Danielle Davis, Heather Price, Lizzy Davis, Tabby Davis and Abby Davis as well as 10 great grandchildren and a large extended family.

The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Sedalia Baptist Church, 1072 Charlemont Road, Big Island, VA 24526.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Sedalia Baptist Church and a funeral service will follow at 3 PM with Rev. Mike Jones officiating.  Interment, with military honors by American Legion Post #16 will follow in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
