Obituary of George Thomas Augstell

George T. Augstell, who grew up in Niagara Falls and was a resident of Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 5 after a long illness. Born April 23, 1959 in Albany, NY, George was a 1977 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he became a skilled plumber and pipefitter. After serving the country, he worked under a defense contract retrofitting and modernizing numerous federal buildings in the Washington, DC area. After retiring, George spent time in Florida before returning to Virginia.  George was predeceased by his parents, Mary (Raney) Augstell and George T. Augstell, his brothers Robert Augstell and James Augstell. 

George is survived by his beloved companion, Shari Myers of Goodview, VA; three sons, Joseph (Britney) Augstell of Toronto, Ontario, George T. Augstell, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, Alexander (Joelle) Augstell of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Naima, Noah, Jacob and Ever James;  sisters Virginia (James) Taylor of Lyndonville NY and Mary Ellen (Allan) Aureli of Youngstown, NY; a brother, Michael (Janet) Augstell of Palm Harbor, Fl;  sister-in-law Jennifer Augstell of Buffalo, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by dear friends, Melissa Heskew and her children Jared, Riley, Mason and Teagan, and Michael and Lisa Pfeiffer and their children Skylar, Grayson and Arabella.
 
A memorial service will be held at Diamond Hill Baptist Church at a later date.  Burial will take place with military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico in Triangle, VA at a date to be announced.
