Obituary of Grace Worley Nichols
Grace Mae Nichols (Worley), 88, of Bedford passed from this life to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Bedford County Nursing Home in Bedford
Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Nichols, parents Jettie and Jack Worley, and her brothers Shirley, James, and Russell Worley.
She is survived by son, Timothy Nichols and wife, Sandra, grandson Bradley Nichols and wife Allison, great grandchildren Jack and Susanna, step grandson, Chris Davis and wife, Teresa; son, Byron Nichols and wife Donna, step granddaughter, Ashley Justus and husband, Rodney; step great grandchildren, Madison and Mason; son, Sheldon Nichols and wife, Marilyn, step grandson, Tyler Peck and wife, Dominque, step granddaughter, Rachel Taylor, husband Cody, and step great grandchild, Blake.
Grace was born in Danville, Virginia on September 18, 1936, and, after her childhood in Pittsylvania County, married Ray. She then spent the rest of her adult life in Bedford County Virginia. She was a devoted wife and mother spending her energy as a homemaker, mother to her three sons, and service to her church. She was a longtime member and supporter of Pecks Baptist Church. It was at Pecks and with her fellow members that she truly felt most at home. She enjoyed the outdoors, trout fishing, taking her sons to the Bedford County Lake, and on family vacations.
Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Bedford County Nursing Home and especially the devoted staff who cared for our mother in her later years of life.
The family will receive guests beginning at 12:30 pm with a remembrance service to follow at 2:00 pm on Thursday January 23, 2025. Both the visitation and service will be held at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
