James Board Farley, 84 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond. He was born on Saturday, June 18, 1927 in Bedford County, a son of the late William Ward Farley and Berta Jane Hackworth Farley. He was also preceded in death by is first wife, Betty Glenn Farley and a step-son, Michael "Buddy" Parker. He was a retired employee of Piedmont Label and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II. Surviving is his wife, Louella M. Parker Farley; a son, Ronnie R. Farley & wife, Linda of Midlothian; a daughter, Donna J. Bowyer & husband, Barry of Big Island; a step-daughter, Susan Parker, Lynchburg as well as two grandsons. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider the Bedford Lifesaving Crew, P. O. Box 161, Bedford, VA 24253. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Virginia Memorial Park on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 until 12:30 prior to the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
