Everett Chester Reckley, 88 of Bedford, VA passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Saturday, May 19, 1923 in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Chester E. Reckley and Rachel Goodwin Reckley. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Raynor. He was a millwright with DuPont Fibers in Richmond, was a member of Smith Mountain Lake Moose Lodge #2346 and was retired fire chief of Bensley Volunteer Fire Department, Company 3. Surviving is his wife of seventy years, Christine Franklin Reckley; a daughter, Carol Osentoski & husband, George of Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law, Jerry Raynor of Moneta; his sister, Joyce Fontenot of Owens Crossroads, AL, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Alzheimers Association, 2728 Colonial Avenue, SW, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating.
