Elton Byrd Sublett, 88 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Campbell Nursing Home. He was born on Sunday, October 21, 1923 in Bedford County, a son of the late Russell Byrd Sublett and Myrtle Boothe Sublett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Henrietta McGhee Sublett He was a retired employee of Dodson Exterminating and was a member Mentow Baptist Church. Surviving is his son, Donald Byrd Sublett & wife, Connie of Bedford; daughter, Debra Graham & husband, David of Daleville; three grandchildren, Angela Perry & husband, Dean, Chere Witt & husband, Randy, Kimberly French & husband, Jeff; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas & Lexie Perry, Chelsey & Dustin Nichols & Blake French. Special thanks to Campbell Rest Home & Carilion Bedford Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Mentow Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Soult officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
