Charles Edward Dunham, 84 of Bedford, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at Carilion Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Monday, November 15, 1926 in Bedford County, a son of the late Charlie Enoch Dunham and Annie Davis Dunham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Wilkes Dunham and his step-mother Bernice Leftwich Dunham. He was a retired loom fixer at Bedford Weaving, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. Surviving is his daughter, Janice D. Fitzgerald & husband Reese of Martinsville; a son, Charles Edward Dunham of Goldsboro, NC; granddaughters, Michelle Schmucker of Roanoke and Katie Dunham of Goldsboro, NC; grandsons, Christopher Dunham and Alex Dunham both of Goldsboro, NC and Sister-in-Law, Rebekah D. Wilkes of Lynchburg. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, October 24, 2011 from 11:00 am until the start of the service. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
