Ruby Leftwich Overstreet, 89 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Saturday, June 10, 1922 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late William Thomas Leftwich and Mary Louise Zimmerman Leftwich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther Emmett Overstreet. She was a retired employee of Bedford Weaving and was a member of Quaker Baptist Church. Surviving is her daughter, Alma Overstreet Blankenship & husband, Lynwood of Bedford; her grandchildren, E. Kelly Blankenship & wife, Trevia of Bedford, Tracy B. Goode & husband, Richard, Jr. of Huddleston, Ellen B. Fagan & husband, Sean of Bedford, her great-grandchildren, Kristen B. Chapman & husband, Joseph, Lanie Blankenship, Brittany Dunbar, Sam & Rachel Goode; her great great grandchildren, Grace & Faith Chapman; her sister, Myrtle Hoback of Bedford and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Quaker Baptist Church with Rev. David Timma officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
