Obituary of Arthur Rumpf SR

Arthur Norman Rumpf, Sr., 87 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1924 in Locust Gap, PA, a son of the late Jacob Edward Rumpf and Clara Rumpf. He was a member of the Seat Pleasant Lodge # 218 In District Height, MD; was Little League Coordinator in Maryland and was "Man of the Year" and also did 5 years at the food bank and five or more at Bedford Christian Ministries. He served in World War II as a tailgunner and engineer on a B25 bomber and flew 72 missions over Germany taking out bridges and railroads, etc. He was retired from Greyhound after thirty years. He is survived by his wife & caretaker, Frances Smallwood Rumpf; two sons, Arthur Rumpf, Jr. of Albequerque, NM; Douglas Rumpf & wife, Jen of Mt. Airy, MD; a daughter, Connie M. Buck of Laurel, MD; a sister, Alice Cress, Pheonixville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by Rev. John Salley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 until 11 Am preceding the service at the funeral home.
