Obituary of William Cheek JR

William Burrell Cheek, Jr., 89 of Moneta, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, November 7, 1922 in Bedford County, a son of the late William B. Cheek, Sr. and Frances Craghead Cheek. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Irene Wright Cheek. He was a retired rural mail carrier and was a member of Morgans Baptist Church and Bedford Masonic Lodge # 244. Surviving is his son, Robert Lewis Cheek of Moneta; three daughters, Sue Ellen Willis & husband, Hayes of Forest, Judith C. Robertson of Los Lunas, NM, Jeanne C. Cayton & husband, Tommy of Bedford; two grandsons, Mark Willis & wife, Samantha of Evington, Michael Willis of Miramar, FL; a step-grandson, Will Cayton of Lynchburg; two great grandchildren, Halen & Ryan Willis; four sisters-in-law, Fleeta Cheek of Roanoke, Gracie Cheek of Bedford, Betty Cheek of Moneta, Loretta Cheek of Huddleston. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Moneta Fire Department, P.O. Box 455, Moneta, VA 24121 or the Moneta Rescue Squad, c/o Mike Harper, P. O. Box 497, Moneta, VA 24121. Funeral services, with Masonic Rites by Bedford Masonic Lodge # 244, will be held at the graveside at Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Rick Mallory officiating. Friends may call Friday after 1 PM and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
