Elizabeth Fowler Green, 87, of Goode, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at theHeritage Green Assisted Living Community. Born in Lowry, VA on March 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter Allen Markham, and Bessie Markham Fowler. She was the wife of the late Carey S. Fowler, and also of the late Charles E. Green, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and sister-in-laws, Allen Markham (Mary), and Rosco Markham, (Tina). She is survived by her four sons, Wayne Fowler (Diane) of Goode, John Fowler (Lucy) of Bedford, Lee Fowler (Cecilia) of Goode, and Larry Fowler of Goode. Elizabeth is also survived by eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren as well as her stepson, Charles E. Green, III (Ted) and wife Ginny, her 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren. She was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church in Lowry, VA. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, with a funeral service to immediately follow in the chapel of the funeral home officiated by Rev. Donald Gillette and Rev. Philip Kelley. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11 AM at Virginia Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
