Teresa Gayle (McKinney) Cook, of Moneta, passed away on January 27, 2012. She was born November 30, 1946, in Richmond, a daughter of the late Eldridge Matthew McKinney and Nina Winnifred (Rowlett) McKinney of Bedford. She was the beloved wife of Pete Cook; mother of Charlene (Cook) Drake, Andrew Cook, and Brandon Cook; and grandmother of six. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Paige Keltz, of Bedford. Mrs. Cook was raised in Bedford, earned degrees in History and Elementary Education from James Madison University and Cabrini College, and taught pre-school while raising a family in the Philadelphia, Pa. area. She returned to Moneta and was a librarian for more than 20 years at the Moneta Library. She was an artist and jewelry maker and was a also a member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish. The family requets that those wishing to make memorials consider the Friends of the Moneta/Smith Mountain Lake Library, P. O. Box 583, Moneta, VA 24121. Donations will also be accepted att he Moneta Library. Services will be held Tuesday, January 31 at 11 a.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. A reception will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church.
