Francis M. Bowyer, Jr., 79 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Friday, August 26, 1932 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Francis Molen Bowyer, Sr. and Mary Letha Creasy Bowyer. He was a retired employee of Newport News Shipbuilding and was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church. Surviving is his loving wife, Betty Torbert Bowyer, his children, Randy Bowyer, Victor Bowyer, Regina Lindsay and Mark Bowyer; four brothers, Billy Bowyer, Tommy Bowyer, Bernard Bowyer, Kenneth Bowyer & wife, Thelma. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
