Peggy Blankenship Obituary

Peggy Overstreet Blankenship, 81 of Moneta, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, February 22, 1931 in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Frank Jeter Overstreet and Annie Frances Huffman Overstreet. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Edward Overstreet. She retired with twenty five years service from Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging where she enjoyed helping the elderly. Her true joy in life was working along side her husband on the family farm, keeping house and acting as caregiver for both family members and friends. She was a longtime member of Palestine Baptist Church, where in her earlier years, she helped with Bible School and in her later years taught the Senior Adult Womens Sunday School Class. She also served in many other capacities at the church throughout her life. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Ferris Everett "Bub" Blankenship; her daughter, Delores B. Feazell & husband, Gary of Moneta; three granddaughters, Alicia F. Smith & husband, Jeremy of Huddleston, Jennifer F. Maciel & husband, Kenis of Vinton, Michelle F. Ramaker & husband, Mitchell of Moneta; six great-grandchildren, Keira & Karlee Smith, Brayden Maciel, Nehemiah, Macie & Ezekiel Ramaker as well as many other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
