Sherril Bennett Woodford, 80 of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sunday, September 20, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late William Garland Woodford and Roberta Howell Woodford. He was a retired engineer with Norfolk & Southern Railway. Surviving is his wife, Frances Leftwich Woodford; a son, Tony R. Woodford of Roanoke; a daughter, Angela W. Jones of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Michael R. Woodford & wife, Mindy, Heather L. Woodford, Kerry Q. Jones, Katelyn E. Jones, Dylan C. Womack; three sisters, Janet Howard of Goode, Margaret Czepiel, Betty Carol Herrod, both of FL, two brothers, Floyd Ray Woodford of TX, Eugene Woodford of FL. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Huddleston Lifesaving Crew, P. O. Box 77, Huddleston, VA 24104. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Rev. Ken Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
