Howard Wayne Wills, 70 of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012. He was born on January 13, 1942 in Altavista, a son of the late Howard Richard Wills and Mable Whorley Wills He served in the Air Force for four years at Homestead Air Base in FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Wilson Wills who died January 2, 1968. In December 1969 he married Melba Thornton from Monroe, LA. He retired from the Miami-Dade County School Board in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Melba, his son, David Wayne Wills, (Lori) and grandsons Kellen and Trace Wills of Pembroke Pines, FL; a daughter Deborrah Joann Watson (Reggie) of Hollywood, FL; two brothers, William Wills (Judy) of Forest, Leonard Wills (Brenda), daughter Tamara Johnson, grandsons Duston and Hunter Johnson, Evington; two aunts: Ruth Hensley of Lynch Station, Mary Ashwell of Bedford and a number of cousins in Virginia. A Funeral service will be conducted at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2 PM. Interment will follow in the Whorley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
