James Aubrey Dooley, 77 of Roanoke, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, September 27, 1932 in Bedford Co., a son of the late James Chesterfield Dooley and Hester Ruth Carter Dooley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Mary Overstreet Dooley. He was a retired employee of Fred Whittaker Yarn Dying Company, was of the Presbyterian faith and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Surviving is his son, James Danny Dooley of Roanoke; daughter, Donna Dooley Thurman & husband, Jeffery of Roanoke; grandchildren, Keela Dooley, Jennifer Thurman, Megan Lively; two brothers, George Alfred Dooley and Roy J. Dooley, both of Bedford Co. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Geoff Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery. Friends may call Monday after 9 AM and the family will receive friends until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
