Louise Turner McDaniel, 94, a long-time resident of Bedford, Virginia, passed from this earth into the arms of her Heavenly Father on February 4, 2012. Born on November 2, 1917, to parents William Otis and Dora Saunders Turner, she grew up in Huddleston, VA, and graduated from Madison State Teachers College. In 1941, she married J. Carter McDaniel who preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. James C. McDaniel, Jr. (Nancy) and Dr. William R. McDaniel (Carla), six grandchildren, Dr. James C. McDaniel III, Christy McDaniel, Amy McDaniel, Tiffany Garrett (Hal), Summer Leim, and Jared McDaniel, and two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Sydney Garrett. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Neva Skinnell, Mamye Ricks, and Virginia McKeon. She lived most of her life in the Bunker Hill Community of Bedford County where her life was centered around the activities of Mount Olivet Southern Baptist Church. The last 8 years of her life were lived in Franklin, TN, where she was able to enjoy proximity to her family living there. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2 PM at the Mt. Olivet Southern Baptist Church in the Bunker Hill Community with Rev. Marc Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
