Kenneth Eugene Gentry, 76 of Thaxton, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Summit Health Care Center. He was born on Thursday, May 9, 1935 in Antione, AR, a son of the late Carl Gentry and Edna Craig Gentry. He was a retired Civil Engineer with Richmarr Construction and was a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church . He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U. S. Air Force. Surviving is his wife of fifty-six years, Dorothy Jean Toogood Gentry; two daughters, Marie Huffman & husband, Adam of Blue Ridge, Kathy Sheetz & husband, John of Alexandria, two sisters, Hazel Young of Texarkana, TX, Margaret Schilling of Texarkana, AR; five grandchildren, Becky, Mandy, Melanie, Stephanie, Greg; three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Paige, Michael. Kenneth loved his family, hunting, fishing & gardening. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Rodney Wilson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
