Obituary of Norman Stewart JR

Norman Kenneth "STUBALL" Stewart, Jr., 67 of Altavista, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, November 8, 1944 in Tick Bite, NC, a son of the late Norman Kenneth Stewart, Sr. and Myrtle Wade Stewart. He was a retired iron worker for forty years where he was a legend. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and loved his wife, family, his dogs, Buck & Jake, the American Flag and his home. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Surviving is his wife, Cynthia Dare McGregor Stewart; five sons, Cody Lee McGregor, Kenneth Shane Stewart, James Stewart, Chris Stewart & wife, Maria; a daughter, Jessica L. Stewart; fourteen grandchildren, his former wife and the mother of James & Chris, Pat Werth; three brothers, Robbie Stewart & wife, Brenda of Calabash, SC, Woody Stewart & wife, LaDena of Fairfield, CA, Charles Stewart & wife, Juanita of Chapperal, NM; two sisters, Betty Anselmi & husband, Dave of Fort Collins, CO, Grace Hagerdorn of Omaha, NE, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins and family scattered across the nation and his iron working family across the globe. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses, doctors and all caregivers that assisted us during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated, and may be made at Woodforest Bank under the name of Cynthia M. Stewart. A Celebration of Life service, with military honors, will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 6 PM on the front lawn of the family home at 96 Gail Lane, Altavista. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
