William Elzar Mayhew, Sr., 70 of Rustburg, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, February 1, 1942 in Roanoke, a son of the late William Harry Mayhew and Nora Lee Burnette Mayhew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mitchell Mayhew. He was a retired welder/pipefitter with Progressive Products. Surviving is his son, William Elzar Mayhew, Jr. & wife, Jennifer of Rustburg; daughters, Susan Annette Mayhew of Altavista, Kimberly M. Barksdale & husband, Todd of Altavista, Eight Grandchildren, Danny W. James, David L. James, Dianna A. Mayhew, Joshua A. Mayhew & wife, Rowan, Seth T. Mayhew, Jacob S. Mayhew, Tiffany N. Dawson, Emily G. Barksdale, a Great-Granddaughter, Belle I. Mayhew; two sisters, Vera Burge of Glade Hill, Mammie Caudill of Colonial Heights, a brother, Donald Mayhew of Tappahannock. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tim Wilde & Rev. Carlton Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 until 12:30 PM preceding the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston
