Joyce Overstreet Hackworth, 76 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on Thursday, September 19, 1935 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Cecil Colon Overstreet and Lucille Barden Overstreet. She was a retired employee of the City of Bedford and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband, Billy Thomas Hackworth; an aunt, Isabelle Overstreet of Bedford; her brother-in-law, Arnold Hackworth & wife, Ethel of Evington, as well as numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Ray Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
