Obituary of Christopher Abbott

Christopher Michael "Chris" Abbott, 40 of Bedford, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in an motorcycle accident. He was born on Tuesday, April 4, 1972 in Bedford , a son of Nelson Ray Abbott & friend, Vickie Wimmer of Troutville and Jeanette Fitzgerald Overstreet of Thaxton. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Lori Renee Abbott. He was a proud member of the Pagans Motorcycle Club and is survived by his brothers G. B. N. F. L. P. D. P. (Strummer 1%) He was a long time local musician who loved playing his bass & performing for his friends and providing them with the Chris Abbott Experience. He also loved riding his motorcycle. In addition to his father & mother, he is survived by his wife, Bethany P. Abbott; a son, Tommy Cochran of Bedford; two brothers, Nelson Ray Abbott, Jr. "Chip" & friend, Christy of Bedford, Jason Odell Abbott & friend, Sherry of Lynchburg; a sister, Katie Abbott Rowsey & husband, Charlie of Bedford; his mother-in-law, Judith Butler of Bedford; an aunt, Janet F. Overstreet of Bedford; two uncles, Wayne L. Fitzgerald of Bedford, Lewis E. Abbott of Roanoke. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chris Abbott Memorial Fund, c/o Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P. O. Box 926, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 3 PM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Steve officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
